Abstract

The penetration of religious meanings into various spheres of society as one of the reasons for the uncertainty of modernity predetermines close attention both to new phenomena on the borders of religion and society, and to forms of interreligious relations. The modern role of religion as an identification parameter and the actualization of the need for higher values intersect with the peculiarities of the Russian multi-confessional civilizational structure, which determines the specifics of social and political structures, their reflection in the mass consciousness. The article considers the importance of faith in the Russian mass consciousness, the threat of inter-confessional conflicts and Orthodox-Muslim dialogue, a wide context of value-identity and political parameters that provide the specifics of Russian society as specific subjects. In modern Russia, these key problems acquire a special meaning through the prism of the need to ensure the value unity and the imperatives of national security.
