Abstract

Drawing on the analysis of Russian and foreign literature on the issue and my own practical experience in the study of the hybrid wars and other critical situations both in Russia and abroad as well as on my personal participation in the three international projects and the study of some long-term transnational interdisciplinary projects, I came to the following conclusions. First, the HWs are one of indispensable features of any evolutionary, socio-economic or geopolitical processes. Second, the HWs are one of the forms of market struggle for the resources and geopolitical domination. Third, at the same time the HWs are socially-constructed phenomenon embracing today all spheres of human activity. Fourth, the very fact of hybridization is the result of permanently going metabolic processes between man and nature and various social entities. Fifth, a growing chaotic character of the global growth provokes the HWs emergence. Sixth, the military-technical inventions and technologies coupled with capitalist accumulation are the main drivers of the HWs. Seventh, the HW concept is developing with the evolution of people, technologies and living environment. Eighth, the HWs are very hard to predict and to prevent because they are quick, multi-sided, all-embracing and destructive. How and in what degree Ninth, the notion of strategic culture is very important but how to apply it to the studies of the HWs? Tenth, how in these conditions a civil population may be efficiently protected? Eleventh, what particular strategic culture is needed in the period of transition from the STR-3 to the STR-4? Twelfth, the HWs have to be studied by the joint interdisciplinary efforts of the military and the civilians. The article is concluded with a summary for future research in this field.
