Abstract

The article is devoted to the disclosure of interethnic relations in the Republic of Tatarstan. The reasons for the attention of the country's leadership and the public to the subject of the Federation due to the economic importance of the region, where many innovations are implemented, and high ethnically marked solidarity are shown. The assessment of interethnic relations by the population of the Republic in 2018-2019, the level of ethnic tolerance, the grounds of interethnic harmony and the main directions of possible tensions in an ethnically differentiated society are analyzed. 84% of Tatarstan citizens assess interethnic relations as friendly and calm, 8% of Russians, 4.6% of Tatars, 14% of people of other nationalities faced distrust and hostility because of their nationality. The article reveals the ideas of Tatars, Russians, people of other nationalities about equality of opportunities in the labor and socio-political sphere. High competition for jobs in the current socio-economic situation, justice / injustice in social promotion and participation in power are identified as the main sources of possible ethnically marked social tensions. The analysis is based on the results of a representative survey of Tatarstan residents in the spring of 2019 (2000 observation units).
