Abstract

As a rule, trust is perceived as something that contributes to the emergence and development of positive phenomena. However, there are studies in which trust is related to the occurrence of negative effects. The article continues this tradition, in particular, makes a contribution to understanding how agreement is reached on the basis of trust formed before entering a university. That is – how it leads to disappointments or to their absence among students regarding their education. An empirical study shows that different types of trust lead to different types of consent – «authentic» and «conformal». The latter type has ambiguous consequences for educational organization. The first type implies the absence of disappointments in the education received, while the second type assumes their presence, while there is no desire, willingness or opportunity to change the situation of disappointment. «Conformal» consenthas mixed consequences for an educational organization. Students in this type of consent are most often not ready to recommend their university and specialty for admission, they are less likely to work in their specialty, and their plans for the future are more uncertain. «Conformal» consent allows an educational organization to look stable in outward appearance, but the disappointments constituting this type of consent cast doubt on its sustainability.
