Abstract

The analysis is based on a survey of the Federal State Statistics Service of the RF in 2016 ща graduates of higher and secondary vocational education in 2010-2015. It characterizes the process of the first job placement after graduation and the situation on the labor market separately for three groups: graduates of higher education (HE), secondary vocational education (SVE) for the education programs of middle level specialists (EPMLS), SVE for education programs of skilled workers and employees (EPSWE). Participation in labor activities during learning provides employment advantages. Most graduates quickly found their first job, using mainly the help of their immediate circle. The fact that about a third of VO graduates and about 2/5 of VET graduates got a job that does not correspond to their specialty is regarded as the result of the imbalance between the structure of supply and the structure of demand in the labor market. The professional activities of more than a third of graduates of HE and more than 2/5 of graduates of SVE - EPMLS did not require the level of qualification reflected in their diplomas. 63% of employed graduates of SVE - EPSWE became skilled workers, employees, workers in the trade and service sectors, that is, they worked in accordance with the level of the obtained qualification. The level of employment of HE graduates is significantly higher than the national average; it is also higher than the average for graduates of SVE. The lowest unemployment rate is among VO graduates.
