Abstract

The creation and activities of the Russian Scientific Foundation for Humanities (RSFH) are part of the hard work of the responsible part of the Russian scientific community in the dramatic period of the 1990s. The experience of the Russian Scientific Foundation for the Humanities is valuable as an example of a successful reform of science and deserves study. The formation, structure and activity of the Russian Scientific Foundation for Humanitites is specially analyzed in many publications, including two author monographs. In the 1990s, in spite of the crisis, the socio-humanitarian segment of scientific production was almost completely preserved in Russia, and the RSFH was great in this. The activity of scientists and research teams in obtaining new knowledge has not stopped and has not even decreased in volume. And this happens largely thanks to the targeted support of living centers of scientific creativity from the Foundation. The effectiveness of the RSFH is expressed mainly in the growth of the effectiveness of the work of scientific teams and scientists and in the growth of the quality of scientific work. The result of the Fund's activity was the stimulation of real reforms in science, due to the fact that the competition and accentuated support were carried out by the Fund for specific works in Russia, during which case studies were conducted in the field of social and human sciences and their reorientation to really relevant scientific and practical problems.
