Abstract

The article focuses the process of development, adoption and content of a new international standard - the Convention of the International Labor Organization on the Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the world of Work (No. 190) and the corresponding Recommendation (No. 206) as a way and attempt to institutionalize the gender equality policy pursued by the ILO - a specialized United Nations Office. The possible and expected political and legal consequences arising from the obligations of the ILO member states, which include the Russian Federation, are described. This new standard is expected to help states, employers and unions to adopt adequate human resources policies, including specific measures to prevent violence and harassment and to remedy their adverse consequences.
