Abstract

The authors answered the following questions: Computer games today - do they leave time for other cultural activities for those who practice them? What is the stratification of the players, if the criterion for distinguishing takes into account the specifics of addressing games along with reading, museum and spectator activity of the individual? The authors developed their ideas on the basis of a sociological discussion about tastes. Based on the ideas of P. Bourdieu and R. Peterson, hypotheses were formulated and empirical research was conducted (telephone survey, N = 1000, November 2017, St. Petersburg).
