Abstract

Developing the quality of the population is an important social task of the state. The study is devoted to the analysis of groups of regions in the previously developed, through cluster analysis, their typology on the qualitative characteristics of the population. Since quality of life is the main factor in developing the quality of life of the population, economic indicators of quality of life are also taken into account - average per capita income, levels of poverty and unemployment. This article considers the regions of the Northwestern Federal District, which initially fell into five clusters. By comparing the regions of the Federal District with seven indicators of the quality of life and quality of the population, the conclusion is justified that it is possible to move to another grouping. The practical significance of the results is to identify the main socio-economic problems of each region of the federal district studied.
