Abstract

The desire of some political figures in the West to downplay the role of the Soviet Union in World War II is one of the manifestations of Western hegemony. Its most perverse expression was Hitler's aggression, which turned primarily against the Western countries themselves. The policy of imperial hegemony, picked up after the collapse of Nazism by the ruling circles of the United States, is short-sighted and unpromising. It antagonizes the rest of the world, generates the threat of wars and ultimately becomes destructive to the challenger for world domination.
