Abstract

The article is an attempt to reformulate cultural studies on the basis of Orthodox anthropology instead of the humanistic anthropology on which it is based traditionally. It’s based on the understanding of human nature as three-part - spirit, soul, body. And culture is interpreted as the function of soulful beginning. The elements of culture are complemented each other. One of them serves to person adaptation to a fallen world. Culture has functionality and intentionality (design) of its inherent worldview. On the other hand, culture is also a repository of symbols reflecting the preplanned meanings of Creator's creations. The article represents a fragment of a large initiative project undertaken by the author.
