Abstract

The article analyzes the trends of emigration from Russia and the former Soviet Union  to Bulgaria. Three main waves of emigration are identified, which are marked by political and  financial and economic crises in Russia. The features of the socio-demographic composition of  emigrants from Russia to Bulgaria in each of the migration waves are determined. In the first  wave of emigration in 1991–1998, Bulgaria experienced a wave of marital emigration of “Rus- The article analyzes the trends of emigration from Russia and the former Soviet Union to Bulgaria. The features of the socio-demographic composition of emigrants from Russia to Bulgaria in each of the migration waves are determined. In the first wave of emigration in 1991–1998, Bulgaria experienced a wave of marital emigration of “Russian  wives”.  The  second  wave  of  recent  emigration  from  Russia  in  1998-2008  it  included  the Russian middle class and pensioners who began to buy real estate in Bulgaria and move here for temporary or permanent residence. The third wave of emigration is observed in 2008-2019.
