Abstract

The paper considers the patterns of dynamics of labor immigration to Russia before the COVID crisis. The challenges and threats to Russian society in the field of international labor exchange associated with the coronavirus pandemic are analyzed. The trends and transformations in the flows of labor migrants to Russia during the period of active spread of the pandemic have been identified. The socio-economic consequences of the impact of the spread of coronavirus on cross-border movements of the population and labor immigration to Russia have been identified and disclosed. It is shown that in the domestic economy there has been a noticeable decrease in the import of foreign labor, the intake of qualified specialists from abroad has sharply decreased. The assessment of the problems of integration of foreign labor migrants into the Russian economy is given. The tendencies  of  the expansion of precarious employment of labor migrants and the strengthening of their inclusion in the labor market in the shadow labor recruitment schemes are characterized. A set of unresolved problems for building actions in the field of attracting and using foreign labor during the period of overcoming the consequences of the COVID crisis was discussed.
