Abstract

In the context of the global confrontation between the pandemic and economic instability, extreme factors are seriously affecting the lives and health of citizens, which pose a serious threat to the population of Russia and abroad. the article discusses the features of the measures taken to preserve the food security of the Russian population in the context of the global confrontation with the covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. According to the author, because of the coronavirus, most countries will turn inward for at least a few years, focusing on what is happening within their borders, and not abroad. thus, many countries, including Russia, are at risk of falling into an impending food crisis if measures are not taken to maintain food supply chains between countries; medical and drug provision, social protection of vulnerable segments of the population; and mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the food system as a whole. It is recommended to review the package of socially significant food products and suspend the growth of prices for them, create strategic food reserves according to the system of priorities and economic accessibility of the population. All these and other measures should create a basis for sustainable demographic development, especially in the light of the policy of preserving the health of the nation of the indigenous Russian population. A special feature of the analysis was qualitative and quantitative methodological studies based on the use of comparative analysis of the results that determine the effectiveness of food supply to the population in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and economic instability. This study provides examples of Russian and foreign experience in implementing emergency measures for social protection of citizens.
