Abstract

Since 2013, the Scientific Center for the Study of the Arctic, the West Siberian Branch of the FCTAS RAS have been conducting sociological research aimed at identifying the stages of formation, structure and content of the regional identity of the population of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) and its influence on the formation of human capital in this Arctic region. ... The obtained research results indicate the formed stable regional identity among the permanently residing population of the Autonomous Okrug. At the same time, regional identity is represented by two main categories: the macro-regional level (north of Russia) - “northerners” and the mesoregional level (subject of the Russian Federation) - “Yamal people”. A retrospective analysis made it possible to identify four main stages in the formation of the regional identity of the population of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, which are directly linked to the socio-economic development of the territory and human capital in the district.
