Abstract

The research is devoted to the development of transport in Siberia and the Russian Far East. Taking into account the territorial features of Russia, namely its length and spatial differentiation, the transport and logistics problem is particularly significant and relevant. Special attention is paid to the prospects of demographic development and the formation of new geopolitical risks in the regions of Siberia and the Russian Far East. The low level of transport development in the eastern regions contributes both to the weakening of the connectivity of the territories and to the slowdown in the pace of socio-economic development, and to the intensification of the migration outflow of the working-age population, which negatively affects the demographic situation of these territories. To achieve the set objectives, the paper investigated the features of natural, climatic and demographic development of transport in the context of possible geopolitical threats to the territories of Siberia and the Far East. The study notes that demographic and geopolitical features can be not only an indicator, but also a factor in the development of transport in the regions. In addition, the implementation of new transport projects can significantly increase the socio-economic attractiveness, as well as contribute to the preservation of local labor resources through the formation of new strategic zones for the socio-economic development of Siberia and the Far East.
